Set up your CloserLook Band
Four stages: charge the band, connect it to the app, set up your profile and Care Circle, then turn on background sync so readings keep reaching your family.
Pair the band with the phone your parent carries every day. Then install CloserLook on your own phone and follow them with the invite code from stage 3. A video call makes it easy to do together.
Charge the band
Charge it fully before you pair it. A full charge takes about an hour.
Attach the magnetic charger to the back of the band, lining up the pins.
A red light means the band is charging. When the light turns green, it is fully charged.
Connect the band to the app
Do this on the phone of the person who will wear the band.
Open the app and create an account.
Enter the activation code from your order email to activate the band.
Keep the band next to the phone. When it appears under Nearby Bands, tap Pair.
When you see Band Ready, the band is connected.
Allow the app to use Bluetooth, Notifications, Background App Refresh and Cellular Data (called Mobile Data on some phones).
Wear the band comfortably on your wrist, day and night, so it can follow sleep as well as the day.
Set up your profile and Care Circle
Your profile helps the app read your numbers in context. The Care Circle is how family stays in the loop.
Fill in your personal profile.
Fill in your health profile: date of birth, sex, height and weight.
In Care Circle, tap Add to My Circle and send the code to family. They only need the app, not a band.
Following someone else? Enter the invite code they shared with you.
Turn on background sync
This lets readings reach your Care Circle without the wearer opening the app.
iPhone
Background App Refresh
- In CloserLook, open the Me tab and tap the account picture at the top to open Profile.
- Under App Settings, tap Permissions. An orange dot means something needs attention.
- In the Background section, find Background App Refresh and tap Open Settings.
- In iPhone Settings → CloserLook, turn Background App Refresh on. While you're there, tap Notifications and turn on Allow Notifications.
- Check that Background App Refresh is on for the whole phone: Settings → General → Background App Refresh should say Wi-Fi & Cellular Data or Wi-Fi. Also keep Low Power Mode off, because it pauses background refresh.
Android
Battery optimisation
- In CloserLook, open the Me tab and tap the account picture at the top to open Profile.
- Under App Settings, tap Permissions. An orange dot means something needs attention.
- In the Background section, find Battery Optimisation. If it says Restricted, tap Allow Background Activity, then Allow. It should now say Unrestricted.
- If you see a Notification section, tap Allow Notification and accept.
- On Samsung, Xiaomi and similar phones, also go to Settings → Apps → CloserLook → Battery and choose Unrestricted. These brands add their own battery limits on top of Android's.
